Campbell River girls qualify for High School Provincials

Janika Scriba and Tyza Skuse from Carihi and Ksenia Stansell from Timberline all competed to qualify for the High School Provincial Championships in Victoria in early March.

The competition was held at the Chimo in Comox February 9^th. There were 3 spots up for grabs and all three girls qualified taking 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd spots respectively. Congratulations to all three girls representing their school and club (CRGA). Good luck at the High School Provincials!

Janika Scriba had a great competition winning each event and the All Around.

Tyza showed great routines on vault and floor to capture the Silver medals on both vault and floor while Ksenia showed strong routines on bars and beam to capture the Silver medals on those events.

CR Gymnasts win more than 25 medals at the Chimo Invitational

The Campbell River Gymnastics Association (CRGA) sent a big group of boys and to the Chimo competition held in Comox February 7^th-9^th, 2020. This was the first competition for most of the athletes and they performed very well.

The total medal count included more than 25 medals including highlights of River Wangler, Sophie Pallan, Miley Konrad, and Haylee Toohey all coming home with the Silver medals in the All Around competitions in their respected divisions.

Madison Cook also capped things off coming home with the Bronze medal All Around in her division. Congrats to all the athletes and looking forwards to a strong competitive season! Below are all the results.

JO Level 7

Jadea Wilson won the 5^th place ribbon on floor, took the 6^th place ribbon on beam, finished 7^th on bars and 8^th on vault to come home in 7^th place in the All Around.

Ava Lee won the 4^th place ribbon on beam, took the 7^th place ribbon on floor, finished 9^th on bars and 10^th on vault to come home in 9^th place in the All Around.

JO Level 6 group A

Kalie Lofstrom won the Bronze medal on beam, took the 5^th place ribbon on vault, finished 6^th on bars and 10^th on floor to come home in 5^th place in the All Around.

Rihanna Dill won the 4^th place ribbons on both bars and floor, took 6^th place on beam, finished 11^th on vault to come home in 6^th place in the All Around.

Isabelle Alsager captured 5^th place on bars, took the 7^th place ribbon on beam, finished 10^th on vault and 12^th on floor to come home in 9^th place in the All Around.

Anna Wheatley won the 8^th place ribbon on vault, took the 9^th place ribbon on floor, finished 10^th on both bars and beam to come home in 12^th place in the All Around.

Myah Ward captured the 8^th place ribbon on bars, took the 9^th place ribbon on vault, finished 11^th on floor and 12^th on beam to come home in 13^th place in the All Around.

JO Level 6 group B

Miley Konrad captured the Silver medals on bars and beam, took the 5^th place ribbon on vault, finished 6^th on floor to come home with the Silver medal in the All Around.

Alyssa Wood won the 6^th place ribbon on beam, took 7^th place on vault, finished 9^th on bars and 11^th on floor to come home in 11^th place in the All Around.

Ava Levins captured the 4^th place ribbon on vault, took the 9^th place ribbon on floor, finished 12^th on both bars and beam to come home in 12^th place in the All Around.

Shyanne Johnson won the Gold medal on bars, took the 10^th place ribbon on beam, finished 11^th on vault and 12^th on floor to come home in 13^th place in the All Around.

JO Level 4 group C

Persia Tabarsi took 9^th place on vault, placed 10^th on floor, finished 11^th on both bars and beam to come home in 11^th place in the All Around.

JO Level 3 2011-2012 group A

Lacey Palmer won the 7^th place ribbons on vault and floor, placed 8^th on bars, finished 9^th on beam to come home in 9^th place in the All Around.

Ru-Chan Mcguffie-Ogasawara won the 6^th place ribbon on vault, captured the 7^th place ribbon on beam, finished 9^th on floor and 12^th on bars to come home in 10^th place in the All Around.

Khloe Chapman won the 9^th place ribbon on vault, took the 10^th place ribbons on both beam and floor, finished 11^th on bars to come home in 11^th place in the All Around.

Ali Maga won the 8th place ribbons on both vault and beam, placed 10^th on bars, finished 11^th on floor to come home in 12^th place in the All Around.

JO Level 3 2007-2010 group C

Paityn Giesbrecht won the 4^th place ribbon on bars, took the 5^th place ribbon on vault, finished 8^th on beam and 10^th on floor to come home with 6^th place in the All Around.

Jaycee Lafrance captured the Bronze medal on bars, took the 5^th place ribbon on vault, finished 10^th on beam and 11^th on floor to come home in 8^th place in the All Around.

Olivia Fawbert won the 7^th place ribbon on vault, took the 9^th place ribbon on floor, finished 10^th on beam and 11^th on bars to come home in 11^th place in the All Around.

Hannah Thomas won the 8^th place ribbons on both vault and bars, finished 9^th on floor and 10^th on beam to come home in 8^th place in the All Around.

Scarlett Walker won the Bronze medal on beam, captured 4^th place on floor, finished 5^th on vault and 7^th on bars to come home in 4^th place in the All Around.

Madison Gagnon took 11^th place on vault, bars and floor, finished 12^th on beam to come home in 12^th place in the All Around.

Boys Provincial 3

River Wangler captured the Gold medal on high bar, took the Silver medals on rings , vault and parallel bars, won the Bronze medals on floor and pommel horse to come home with the Silver medal in the All Around.

Leonardo Bellosta won the 5^th place ribbon on rings, took 6^th place on floor, pommel horse and high bar and finished 7^th on vault and parallel bars to come home in 7^th place in the All Around.

Boys Provincial 1 (Level 1 Boys compete for a Gold, Silver or Bronze status rather than placement.)

Kody Lye received a Silver Status on floor, pommel horse, rings, vault, and high bar and received a Bronze status on the parallel bars to come home with a Silver status in the All Around.

Noah Kerluck received a Silver status on floor, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars and high bar to come home with a Silver Status in the All Around.

Louis Debruin received a Silver Status on floor, rings, vault, parallel bars and high bar and got a Bronze status on the pommel horse to come home with a Silver Status in the All Around.

Everest Johnson received a Silver status on rings and vault, took a Bronze status on floor, pommel horse, parallel bars and high bar to come home with a Bronze status in the All Around.

CR Gymnasts flip flop and fly in Comox

The Campbell River Gymnastics Association sent a small army to compete in the annual Pajama party competition held in Comox on February 10^th and 11^th. The girls and boys had a great competition combining for over 20 medals including 4 athletes finishing in the top 3 in the All Around including 2 All Around Champions.

Many of the athletes show cased new skills. Jackson Martin added a back layout 1 and a half twist on the floor, a maghar travel on the pommel horse, a double back off the rings, and a tsuk tuck on the vault. Nathan Kerluck added a back layout on the floor, and a front handspring full off the vault. A strong start to the year for the athletes! The following are the results of the competition.

Girls JO 6A division

Jadea Wilson captured the Gold medal on the bars, won Silver medals on both beam and floor, finished 5^th on vault to come home with the Silver medal in the All Around, only .28 out of first place!

Ava Lee won the Silver medal on bars, captured the Bronze on beam, placed 4^th on floor, finished 7^th on vault to come home in 4^th place in the All Around.

Makena Movold captured a Silver medal on vault, placed 5^th on the bars, finished 7^th on both beam and floor to come home in 7^th place in the All Around.

Girls JO 6B division

Alexandra Smith won the Gold medal on vault, captured Silver medals on both bars and floor, finished 6^th on the beam to come home as the All Around Champion!

Kaitlynn Beaulieu captured the Bronze medals on both bars and floor, placed 4^th on beam and 5^th on the vault to come home in 4^th place in the All Around.

Girls JO 5

Rihanna Dill won the 6^th place ribbons on both bars and beam, placed 7^th on both vault and floor to come home in 5^th place in the All Around.

Alexis Reise captured the 4^th place ribbon on beam, took home the 5^th place ribbons on vault and floor and finished 7^th on bars to come home in 6^th place in the All Around.

Grace Lelliot won the 4^th place ribbon on vault, took the 5^th place ribbon on bars, finished 6^th on floor and 7^th on beam to come home in 7^th place in the All Around.

Myah Ward captured the 4^th place ribbons on both vault and bars and took the 5^th place ribbons on both beam and floor to come home in 5^th place in the All Around.

Lila Tree won the Silver medal on bars, captured the 6^th place ribbon on the vault, finished 7^th on floor and 9^th on the beam to come home in 6^th place in the All Around.

Michaela Pontious captured the Gold medal on the vault, won the Silver medal on beam, took the 6^th place ribbon on bars and finished 8^th on floor to come home in 4^th place in the All Around.

Shyanne Johnson won the 4^th place ribbon on beam, took the 5^th place ribbon on bars, finished 6^th on floor and 8^th on the vault to come home in 6^th place in the All Around.

Alyssa Wood captured the 6^th place ribbon on floor, took the 8^th place ribbon on vault, finished 11^th on both bars and beam to come home in 10^th place in the All Around.

Sophia Andersen-Roberts won the 10^th place ribbon on beam, took 11^th place on floor, finished 13^th on both vault and bars to come home in 12^th place in the All Around.

Bayla Wilson placed 12^th on vault, bars and beam and finished 14^th on the floor. Bayla came home in 14^th place in the All Around.

Boys Provincial 4 division

Jack Martin captured the Gold medals on floor, pommel horse, vault and parallel bars while winning the Silver medals on rings and high bar to come home as the All Around Champion.

Nathan Kerluck won the Gold medals on rings and high bar and captured the Silver medals on floor, pommel horse, vault and parallel bars to come home with the Silver medal in the All Around.

CR gymnasts start the season strong!

The Campbell River Gymnastics Association (CRGA) sent athletes to 2 different competitions on the weekend, (Winterfest in Coquitlam and the Chimo competition in Comox) combining for over 60 medals including 10 top 3 finishers and 4 All Around Champions! The athletes have been working hard since the end of last season to demonstrate new skills learnt through the off season.

New skills include Janika Scriba competing backhand spring backhand spring and switch leap back tuck on the beam and a pirouette on the bars, Brooklyn Batch competing back layout 1&half twist, front tuck front tuck on floor, aerial and back layout full twist off of beam and a pirouette on the bars.
Chloe Doyon competed a double turn and a switch leap on the beam, a wolf full on the floor and a pirouette on the bars.
Ksenia Stansell competed a tsuk tuck for the first time on vault and added a roundoff back tuck dismount to beam along with a tour jete half on the floor.
Nya Chailler added a whip back tuck on the floor, a handspring full on the vault, pirouette on bars, roundoff back tuck and backhand spring backhand spring on the beam.
Olivia Miles added a back full and a front tuck front tuck on the floor and competed a roundoff back tuck off the beam.
Hannah Sommer added front tuck front tuck to her floor routine, giant on bars, walkover, walkover and roundoff back tuck off of the beam.
Jordan Loock added a giant on bars, backhand spring back handspring and round off back tuck off beam.
Tyza Skuse added a giant on bars, front tuck and walkover backhand spring on beam, and a front handspring front tuck on the floor.
Isabella Michael added a back walkover on the beam.
Jadea Wilson added cast flyaway on bars and back walkover back tuck off beam.
Shea Bridgen added front pike and back layout on floor, press handstand on beam.
Kaitlyn Beaulieu added front tuck and roundoff back-handspring back tuck on the floor, and back walkover and full turn on the beam.
Ava Lee added an aerial, switch leap and front handspring front tuck on the floor and press handstand and back tuck off the beam.
Makena Movold added free hip circle and flyaway on bars, front tuck and roundoff backhand spring back tuck on floor, and back extension and full turn on beam.
Jack Martin added a front tuck full on the floor. Many new athletes competed for the first time thus adding many more new skills done in competition!

JO Level 9 all ages

Janika Scriba took home 5^th place ribbons on both bars and floor, finished 7^th on the vault and 10^th on beam to come home in 8^th place in the All Around.

Chloe Doyon won the 4^th place ribbon on vault, placed 8^th on the beam, finished 11^th on floor and 12^th on bars to come home in 12^th place in the All Around.

Brooklyn Batch captured the Silver medal on the vault, took 7^th on floor, finished 12^th on beam and 13^th on bars to come home in 13^th in the All Around.

JO LEVEL 8 2000-2003

Olivia Miles won the Bronze medal on the bars, finished 6^th place on beam, took home 7^th on floor and vault to come home in 7^th place in the All Around.

JO LEVEL 8 2004-2005

Ksenia Stansell captured the Silver medal on bars, finished 4^th on vault, took 5^th place on beam and 6^th on floor to come home in 5^th place in the All Around.

Hannah Sommer captured the Gold medal on bars, took the Silver medals on vault and floor, and won the Bronze medal on beam to come home as the ALL AROUND CHAMPION!

Michael Kastashchuk captured Gold status on floor and vault, won a Silver status on rings and parallel bars, took a Bronze status on pommel horse and high bar to finish with a Silver status in the All Around.

Liam Goldrup captured Gold status on vault, won silver status on floor, rings, parallel bars and high bar and came up with Bronze status on pommel horse to come home with a Silver status in the All Around.

Lucas Pesicka captured Gold status on floor and vault, and won a Silver status for pommel horse, rings, parallel bars and high bar to come home with a Silver status in the All Around.

CR Gymnastics thrive in Comox

30 Athletes from the CR Gymnastics Association represented out club at the annual Pajama Meet held in Comox. Our athletes had a very strong performance coming home with 4 all around champions, 8 more on the podium for top 3 all around finishes, over 60 combined medals and numerous ribbons.“The athletes are stepping up when they get chances and it is fun to watch them perform!”, Coach Sader proclaimed.
New skills for the athletes include Brooklyn Batch performing her roundoff back layout off beam for the first time. Riley Michael added a back tuck flyaway off the p-bars along with a Sivado on the pommel horse, a back layout half turn off the rings and a back full on the floor.
Nathan Kerluck added a free hip to handstand and a giant to his high bar routine. Here is the full results for our club.

Level 1 boys
In Level 1 boys usually compete against a standard (everyone getting Gold, Silver or Bronze) however at this meet the Level 1’s competed for placements.
Lucas Pesicka won a silver medal on vault, placed 4^th on floor, finished in 5^th spot on pommel, rings, p-bars and high bar to come home in 5^th place in the all around.

Level 3 boys
Nathan Kerluck captured the Gold medals on all six apparatus including coming home as the All Around Champion!! Congrats!
Jack Martin won the silver medals on floor, rings and vault and came home with the Silver medal in the all around!
Liam Barber tied for the Silver medal on the floor, captured the bronze medals on pommel horse, rings and vault to come home with the bronze medal in the all around.

Level 4 boys
Riley Michael captured the Gold medals on all six apparatus becoming the All Around Champion!! Congrats!!

Women’s levels JO= Junior Olympic

JO level 3 born in 2006
Sierra Goddyn won a 7^th place ribbon on the vault, placed 10^th on both bars and beam and finished in 12^th on the floor to come home in 12^th place in the all around.

JO level 3 born in 2007-2008
Thea Gavel won a silver medal on the vault, captured the bronze on floor, placed 6^th on bars and 8^th on the beam to come home in 7^th place in the all around.
Ayla Wheatley captured the bronze medal on the vault, placed 8^th on the bars and floor, and finished in 9^th on beam to come home in 9^th place in the all around.

JO level 4 born in 2003-2004
Kaitlynn Beaulieau won the bronze medal on beam, placed 5^th on the floor, finished in 6^th place on both vault and bars to come home in 5^th place in the all around.
Amanda Henderson captured a bronze medal on vault, placed 8^th on bars, finished 9^th on both beam and floor to come home tied for 8^th all around.
Melody Bedard took 7^th place ribbons on both vault and beam, placed 8^th on the floor, finished 9^th on the bars to come home in a tie for 8^th in the all around.

JO level 4 born in 2005
Michaela Pontious won the 4^th place ribbon on beam, took 5^thon vault, placed 6^th on floor and 9^th on bars to come home in 6^th place in the all around.

JO level 4 born in 2006-2007
Katrina Dion won the 4^th place ribbon on the vault, placed 7^th on both bars and floor and came home in 11^th on beam to come home in 10^th place in the all around.

JO Level 5 all ages
Jadea Wilson captured the gold medal on the bars, won the silver medals on both beam and floor, placed 4^th on the vault to come home as the All Around Champion!!! Congrats!!
Shea Bridgen won the gold medal on the floor, captured the silver medal on vault, placed 4^th on beam and finished 5^th on bars to come home in 3^rd place in the all around.
Alexandra Smith captured the silver medal on bars, placed 5^th on floor, took home 6^th place ribbons on both vault and beam to come home in 4^th place in the all around.
