Campbell River Gymnasts have strong performance at Western/National Championships qualifiers

The Campbell River Gymnastics Association (CRGA) sent a group of girls and boys on March 17-19th to the qualifying competitions for the Western Canadian Championships held in Manitoba in late April.

The girls trials were in Abbotsford while the boys traveled to Kamloops to try and make team BC for the said competition.
Brooklyn Batch had a fantastic competition qualifying for her first Westerns making the JO level 9 team finishing in 3rd All Around in her division over the weekend.
Janika Scriba came home with first alternate position and a chance at a wild card in the same division.
Nya Chailler came home 2nd over all in her age division and 11th over all with close to 90 competitors trying to capture 7 spots on the JO level 8 team.

Riley Michael and Carson Ogg were also quite close to qualifying in the men’s Provincial 4 division as they just missed out of making the team.
Ksenia Stansell was also in great position to qualify right up until the last event.
Chloe Doyon was our sole athlete trying out for the National Championships as well as Westerns falling 1.6 points short of her goal.
Olivia Miles worked hard to be prepared going into the competition as well!

“Our athletes did an excellent job preparing for the trials competition”, coach Todd Sader said. “The field of competitors is very strong on the mainland and I am proud of our athletes for going in as true contenders in their divisions. Every tenth of a point counts when you are up against strong athletes and strong clubs.”

Campbell River had 8 athletes vying for a position on Team BC to Westerns.

Todd added, “Having that many athletes at that level to be able to make the teams is impressive and a new feat! We have many up and coming athletes in our club that will be pushing that number up in the years to come! “

Janika Scriba captured the Bronze medal on the bars, took the 8th place ribbon on beam, finished 10th on floor and 12th on vault to come home in 7th place in the All Around.

Brooklyn Batch won the Gold medal on bars, took the 7th place ribbon on beam, finished 8th on floor and 9th on vault to come home with the Bronze medal in the All Around and a birth on the Westerns Team!!
Chloe Doyon captured the 6th place ribbon on floor, took the 8th place ribbon on beam, finished 9th on bars and 10th on vault to come home in 8th place in the All Around.

Carihi gymnasts win 2nd place team award at High School Provincial Championships!

Carihi and Timberline students that train at the Campbell River Gymnastics Association represented their schools at the High School Gymnastics Provincial Championships.

Jasmine Duguay, Kamryn Brown, Jillian Frank and Ruby Nickoloff rounded out the Carihi team capturing the 2nd place team award out of 40 participating schools!
Leah Anderson represented Timberline.
Jasmine and Kamryn tied for 8th place in the All Around with Kamryn coming home with the Bronze medal on beam! The rest of the results are as follows.

High School level 3

Kamryn Brown captured the Bronze medal on beam, won the 4th place ribbon on floor, finished 19th on vault and 23rd on bars to come home in a tie for 8th place in the All Around.

Jasmine Duguay won 8th place ribbons on both vault and bars, finished 15th on floor and 19th on beam to come home in a tie for 8th place in the All Around.

Leah Anderson captured the 8th place ribbon on vault (tie) placed 13th on the floor, finished 20th on the beam and 22nd on bars to come home in 17th place in the All Around.

Jillian Frank captured a 5th place ribbon on bars, placed 29th on vault, beam and floor to come home in 29th place in the All Around.

Ruby Nickoloff placed 15th on both bars and floor, placed 27th on vault and finished 42nd on the beam to come home in 35th spot in the All Around.

Gymnasts win multiple medals in Surrey

The Campbell River Gymnastics Association sent a group of athletes to the Carol Lenz memorial Classic in Surrey. The athletes had a fantastic competition competing against some of the strongest clubs in the Province.

Janika Scriba had a strong competition in the JO Level 9 division, finishing in 2nd place All Around.  She also had a solid performance on the beam where she won the Gold medal and captured a Silver medal for her vault performance.
Ksenia Stansell also had a great competition with a Bronze medal podium finish in JO Level 8. Ksenia also came home with the Bronze medal for her bars.
Nya Chailler, JO level 8, had a monster 9.325 score on the bars to bring back the Gold medal for that performance. Brooklyn Batch had an excellent bar performance to bring home the Silver medal in the JO level 9 division.
Chloe Doyon had strong performances on floor and vault to bring back the Bronze medals on both events including winning the choreography award for her floor routine as a JO Level 9.

The boys did equally as well with Riley Michael coming home with Silver medals for his floor and vault and bringing back the Bronze medal on the pommel horse in the Provincial Level 4 Men’s Division.
Carson Ogg came home with the Silver medal for his rings performance in the same level under 13.
Jackson Martin had a solid floor routine to bring back the Silver medal for his performance in the Provincial Level 3 Men’s Division. “Our athletes are improving tremendously everyday and it’s fun to watch” head coach Todd Sader said. “The athletes are highly motivated and pushing each other in the right direction!” The following are the complete results.

CR gymnasts qualify for provincial championships

The Campbell River Gymnastics Association (CRGA) sent a group of athletes to Port Alberni for the Mount Arrowsmith competition. The girls combined for 14 medals and 2 athletes in the top 3 including one All Around Champion! This competition was a trial event for the athletes to qualify for the JO LEVEL 5 and 6 athletes for the Provincial Championships held in Coquitlam in early April.
Congratulations to Jadea Wilson, Isabella Michael, Cailey Goddyn and Claire Pollock for earning spots to Provincials. We are still waiting on Wild cards to see if we have more athletes qualify!

One week removed from their first competition of the year the Campbell River Gymnastics Association (CRGA) sent a group of boys and girls to the Christy Fraser competition held at the Langley Events Centre. We sent 9 girls and 6 boys that combined for 26 medals, three 3rd place finishes and two ALL AROUND CHAMPIONS! The athletes worked hard to improve on mistakes from the first competition and did a great job! Below are the individual results.

Nathan Kerluck captured the Silver medals on both rings and vault, placed 5th on the high bar, finished 7th on floor, 8th on parallel bars and 11th on pommel horse to come home with the Bronze medal in the All Around!

Liam Barber won the Silver medal on floor, took the 6th place ribbon on vault, placed 7th on vault, finished 14th on parallel bars, 15th on high bar and 17th on pommel horse to come home in 12th place in the All Around.

Jack Martin won the 8th place ribbon on high bar, placed 10th on rings, took 11th on the vault, finished 17th on parallel bars, 21st on pommel and 23rd on floor to come home in 23rd place in the All Around.

MEN’S LEVEL 1 ALL AGES (scores achieved by a standard of score for Gold, Silver and Bronze status)

Liam Goldrup was able to achieve a Silver status on all apparatus and came home with a Silver status in the All Around.

CR gymnasts start the season strong!

The Campbell River Gymnastics Association (CRGA) sent athletes to 2 different competitions on the weekend, (Winterfest in Coquitlam and the Chimo competition in Comox) combining for over 60 medals including 10 top 3 finishers and 4 All Around Champions! The athletes have been working hard since the end of last season to demonstrate new skills learnt through the off season.

New skills include Janika Scriba competing backhand spring backhand spring and switch leap back tuck on the beam and a pirouette on the bars, Brooklyn Batch competing back layout 1&half twist, front tuck front tuck on floor, aerial and back layout full twist off of beam and a pirouette on the bars.
Chloe Doyon competed a double turn and a switch leap on the beam, a wolf full on the floor and a pirouette on the bars.
Ksenia Stansell competed a tsuk tuck for the first time on vault and added a roundoff back tuck dismount to beam along with a tour jete half on the floor.
Nya Chailler added a whip back tuck on the floor, a handspring full on the vault, pirouette on bars, roundoff back tuck and backhand spring backhand spring on the beam.
Olivia Miles added a back full and a front tuck front tuck on the floor and competed a roundoff back tuck off the beam.
Hannah Sommer added front tuck front tuck to her floor routine, giant on bars, walkover, walkover and roundoff back tuck off of the beam.
Jordan Loock added a giant on bars, backhand spring back handspring and round off back tuck off beam.
Tyza Skuse added a giant on bars, front tuck and walkover backhand spring on beam, and a front handspring front tuck on the floor.
Isabella Michael added a back walkover on the beam.
Jadea Wilson added cast flyaway on bars and back walkover back tuck off beam.
Shea Bridgen added front pike and back layout on floor, press handstand on beam.
Kaitlyn Beaulieu added front tuck and roundoff back-handspring back tuck on the floor, and back walkover and full turn on the beam.
Ava Lee added an aerial, switch leap and front handspring front tuck on the floor and press handstand and back tuck off the beam.
Makena Movold added free hip circle and flyaway on bars, front tuck and roundoff backhand spring back tuck on floor, and back extension and full turn on beam.
Jack Martin added a front tuck full on the floor. Many new athletes competed for the first time thus adding many more new skills done in competition!

Maddison King won the 9th place ribbon on beam, place 13th on the floor, finished 14th on both vault and bars to come home in 13th place in the All Around.

Sophia Anderson-Roberts placed 13th on both vault and bars and finished 14th on both beam and floor to come home in 14th place in the All Around.

JO LEVEL 3 AGES 2008-2009

Mya Ward placed 11th on both beam and floor and finished 13th on both vault and bars to come home in 11th place in the All Around.

Lila Tree took the 9th place ribbon on bars, placed 11th on vault, finished 12th on beam and 13th on the floor to come home in 12th place in the All Around.

Ellie Purdy captured the 9th place ribbon on vault, placed 12th on both bars and floor, finished 13th on the beam to come home in 13th place in the All Around.

HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL 3

Jasmine Duguay won the Gold medal on vault, captured the Silver medal on bars, placed 6th on beam and 7th on floor to come home as the ALL AROUND CHAMPION!

Leah Anderson captured the Silver medals on both vault and floor, placed 8th on bars and 12th on beam to come home in 4th place in the All Around.

Kamryn Brown won the Bronze medal on vault, took home 4th place on floor, placed 7th on bars and 13th on beam to come home in 5th place in the All Around.

Jillian Frank captured the Silver medal on beam, placed 5th on bars, finished 10th on floor and 13th on vault to come home in 8th place in the All Around.

Ruby Nicholoff won the Bronze medal on bars, placed 7th on beam, finished 11th on floor and 12th on vault to come home in 10th place in the All Around.

Nathan Kerluck won the Gold medals on floor, pommel horse, parallel bars and high bar, captured the Bronze medals on rings and vault to come home as the ALL AROUND CHAMPION!!!

Michael Kastashchuk captured Gold status on floor and vault, won a Silver status on rings and parallel bars, took a Bronze status on pommel horse and high bar to finish with a Silver status in the All Around.

Liam Goldrup captured Gold status on vault, won silver status on floor, rings, parallel bars and high bar and came up with Bronze status on pommel horse to come home with a Silver status in the All Around.

Lucas Pesicka captured Gold status on floor and vault, and won a Silver status for pommel horse, rings, parallel bars and high bar to come home with a Silver status in the All Around.

Cr Gymnasts bring Hhome hardeware from Winterfest

The Campbell River Gymnastics Association (CRGA) sent 10 athletes to the Winterfest competition held in Coquitlam at the Aviva Gymnastics Club.
The girls came to this competition armed with new repertoire on many apparatus.
Janika Scriba performed a back layout double twist on the floor, a switch full and a whip to back tuck for the first time, along with a standing back tuck on the beam, with back layout full twist dismount, a back layout half turn off the bars and a yurochenko tuck on the vault.
Chloe Doyon added a back layout one and half twist on the floor, a back handspring back tuck connection on beam with a back layout full dismount, and a toe on to handstand with a toe on front dismount off bars.
Tyra Moore competed her back tuck flyaway off the bars for the first time.
Isabella Michael added a sole circle and free hip to her bar routine for the first time and Ellie Anderson added a flyaway on bars and a sole circle as well.
The girls had a great competition combining for 21 medals and 2 all around Champions!! Congratulations on a job well done!! Here are the full results.

Kaitlynn Beaulieau captured the bronze medal on the floor, placed 5th on bars and won the 7th place ribbons on both vault and beam to come home in 6th place in the all around.

Tyra Moore had a solid performance on the beam to bring home the bronze, she took the 5th place ribbon on bars, placed 8th on both vault and floor to come home in 7th place in the all around.

Cr athletes make up half the team for Bc Winter Games

The Campbell River Gymnastics Association (CRGA) sent 4 athletes down to the BC Winter Games Trials competition in Duncan where 6 athletes (3 level 7 and 3 level 8) qualify to attend the BC Winter Games later this year in Penticton.
The athletes had an excellent start to their season capturing 3 spots on the six person team. “An excellent feat for our girls!” said Head Coach Todd Sader. They will have a great time competing as a team in Penticton. Some of the girls came to the competition with new skills added to their repertoire.
Ksenia Stansell added kip cast to handstand and giants to her bar routine, and a walkover back handspring connection on the beam.
Nya Chailler added a back layout full twist to her floor routine and a free hip to handstand on the bars as well as a walkover back handspring on the beam.
Brooklyn Batch added a front layout half turn and a switch ring leap on floor, a shoot up on the bars and a back hand back handspring on the beam. The following are the results:

JO Level 7
Nya Chailler captured the gold on the bars, and finished 6th place on vault, beam and floor to come home in 2nd place in the all around and earn a birth to the BC Winter Games
Ksenia Stansell finished 5th on vault, tied for 6th on the floor, finished 9th on beam and 11th on bars to come home in 7th in the all around only .7 away from making the Games team.

JO Level 8
Reese Wheeldon won the gold on the beam, took the silver medals on vault and bars, and won bronze on floor to come home as the All Around Champion and earned a spot on the BC Winter Games team.
Brooklyn Batch captured the gold on both bars and floor, won the silver on the beam and came home in 4th place on the vault to come home in 2nd place in the Around Competition. This earned her a spot on the BC Winter Games team.

Cr Gymnast makes history

Liam Deagle of the Campbell River Gymnastics Association has qualified for his first ever Canadian Championships. Not only is this a first for him but he is also the first gymnast to qualify for Nationals from Campbell River.
Liam is excited to represent team BC at this year’s Canadian Championships held in Edmonton June 1st to the 5th. Liam will be traveling without coach Esteban Baeza. Esteban is confident Liam can perform at his best with traveling team BC coaches Mike Hood and Kris Krunick.

Liam just returned from representing team BC at the Western Canadian Championships held in Richmond. Liam had an excellent performance coming home in 5th place in the All Around. Liam qualified for three event finals where he came home with a Bronze medal on the rings, 5th place on the pommel horse and 6th on the high bar. Congrats on a job well done!!

CR Gymnasts have strong showing in Port Moody

Campbell River Gymnastics Association sent 7 athletes to the TAG competition held in Port Moody.
This competition was a trials to Nationals for Level 9 (12 and under) and Level 10 athletes.
Chloe Doyon improved on each apparatus as she continues to strive for a Nationals birth. “The main focus of each practice and competition for our girls and boys is personal growth” Coach Todd Sader said, “ If they improve in any area we are on the right track, you learn from every success and every mistake” coach Sader continued.
Janika Scriba unleashed a yurochenko pike on the vault for the first time earning her a Gold medal on that apparatus!
Nya Chailler also had a stellar All Around performance to capture the All Around title along with the Gold on the vault and Silver Medals on both bars and beam.
Brooklyn Batch had a strong floor and bars to come home with Silver medals on both apparatus, Olivia Miles captured the Bronze medal with a clean bar set, Isabella Michael won the Silver medal on the floor exercise and Ksenia Stansell had a powerful vault to finish in 4th place on that event.
The girls are looking great going into Provincial Championships coming up soon in Langley. Here are the full results:
