Campbell River girls qualify for High School Provincials

Janika Scriba and Tyza Skuse from Carihi and Ksenia Stansell from Timberline all competed to qualify for the High School Provincial Championships in Victoria in early March.

The competition was held at the Chimo in Comox February 9th.  There were 3 spots up for grabs and all three girls qualified taking 1st, 2nd  and 3rd spots respectively.  Congratulations to all three girls representing their school and club (CRGA).  Good luck at the High School Provincials!

Janika Scriba had a great competition winning each event and the All Around.

Tyza showed great routines on vault and floor to capture the Silver medals on both vault and floor while Ksenia showed strong routines on bars and beam to capture the Silver medals on those events.

CR Gymnasts win more than 25 medals at the Chimo Invitational

The Campbell River Gymnastics Association (CRGA) sent a big group of boys and to the Chimo competition held in Comox February 7th-9th, 2020.  This was the first competition for most of the athletes and they performed very well.

The total medal count included more than 25 medals including highlights of River Wangler, Sophie Pallan, Miley Konrad, and Haylee Toohey all coming home with the Silver medals in the All Around competitions in their respected divisions.

Madison Cook also capped things off coming home with the Bronze medal All Around in her division.  Congrats to all the athletes and looking forwards to a strong competitive season!  Below are all the results.

 

JO Level 7

Jadea Wilson won the 5th place ribbon on floor, took the 6th place ribbon on beam, finished 7th on bars and 8th on vault to come home in 7th place in the All Around.

Ava Lee won the 4th place ribbon on beam, took the 7th place ribbon on floor, finished 9th on bars and 10th on vault to come home in 9th place in the All Around.

JO Level 6 group A

Kalie Lofstrom won the Bronze medal on beam, took the 5th place ribbon on vault, finished 6th on bars and 10th on floor to come home in 5th place in the All Around.

Rihanna Dill won the 4th place ribbons on both bars and floor, took 6th place on beam, finished 11th on vault to come home in 6th place in the All Around.

Isabelle Alsager captured 5th place on bars, took the 7th place ribbon on beam, finished 10th on vault and 12th on floor to come home in 9th place in the All Around.

Anna Wheatley won the 8th place ribbon on vault, took the 9th place ribbon on floor, finished 10th on both bars and beam to come home in 12th place in the All Around.

Myah Ward captured the 8th place ribbon on bars, took the 9th place ribbon on vault, finished 11th on floor and 12th on beam to come home in 13th place in the All Around.

JO Level 6 group B

Miley Konrad captured the Silver medals on bars and beam, took the 5th place ribbon on vault, finished 6th on floor to come home with the Silver medal in the All Around.

Alyssa Wood won the 6th place ribbon on beam, took 7th place on vault, finished 9th on bars and 11th on floor to come home in 11th place in the All Around.

Ava Levins captured the 4th place ribbon on vault, took the 9th place ribbon on floor, finished 12th on both bars and beam to come home in 12th place in the All Around.

Shyanne Johnson won the Gold medal on bars, took the 10th place ribbon on beam, finished 11th on vault and 12th on floor to come home in 13th place in the All Around.

JO Level 4 group C

Persia Tabarsi took 9th place on vault, placed 10th on floor, finished 11th on both bars and beam to come home in 11th place in the All Around.

JO Level 3 2011-2012 group A

Lacey Palmer won the 7th place ribbons on vault and floor, placed 8th on bars, finished 9th on beam to come home in 9th place in the All Around.

Ru-Chan Mcguffie-Ogasawara won the 6th place ribbon on vault, captured the 7th place ribbon on beam, finished 9th on floor and 12th on bars to come home in 10th place in the All Around.

Khloe Chapman won the 9th place ribbon on vault, took the 10th place ribbons on both beam and floor, finished 11th on bars to come home in 11th place in the All Around.

Ali Maga won the 8th place ribbons on both vault and beam, placed 10th on bars, finished 11th on floor to come home in 12th place in the All Around.

JO Level 3 2007-2010 group C

Paityn Giesbrecht won the 4th place ribbon on bars, took the 5th place ribbon on vault, finished 8th on beam and 10th on floor to come home with 6th place in the All Around.

Jaycee Lafrance captured the Bronze medal on bars, took the 5th place ribbon on vault, finished 10th on beam and 11th on floor to come home in 8th place in the All Around.

Olivia Fawbert won the 7th place ribbon on vault, took the 9th place ribbon on floor, finished 10th on beam and 11th on bars to come home in 11th place in the All Around.

Sophie Pallan won the Silver medal on beam, won the 4th place ribbon on bars, finished 5th on floor and 7th on vault to come home with the Silver medal in the All Around.

Haylee Toohey captured the Gold medal on floor, won the Silver medal on beam, took the Bronze medal on vault, finished 4th on bars to come home with the Silver medal in the All Around.

River Wangler captured the Gold medal on high bar, took the Silver medals on rings , vault and parallel bars, won the Bronze medals on floor and pommel horse to come home with the Silver medal in the All Around.

Leonardo Bellosta won the 5th place ribbon on rings, took 6th place on floor, pommel horse and high bar and finished 7th on vault and parallel bars to come home in 7th place in the All Around.

Boys Provincial 1 (Level 1 Boys compete for a Gold, Silver or Bronze status rather than placement.)

Kody Lye received a Silver Status on floor, pommel horse, rings, vault, and high bar and received a Bronze status on the parallel bars to come home with a Silver status in the All Around.

Noah Kerluck received a Silver status on floor, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars and high bar to come home with a Silver Status in the All Around.

Louis Debruin received a Silver Status on floor, rings, vault, parallel bars and high bar and got a Bronze status on the pommel horse to come home with a Silver Status in the All Around.

Everest Johnson received a Silver status on rings and vault, took a Bronze status on floor, pommel horse, parallel bars and high bar to come home with a Bronze status in the All Around.

New skills unleashed in Coquitlam

The Campbell River Gymnastics Association sent athletes to the Winterfest competition held in Coquitlam on January 25th and 26th for their warm up competition of the year.  This is a great competition to try new skills and see where we are at.

Brooklyn Batch in the JO 10 division added a shoot over on bars for the first time, a back layout one and a half twist on off the beam as well as a split ¾ twist leap, and added a front layout 1&1/2 twist on the floor as well as a switch half to split full for her leap line.

Jordan Loock in JO 9 added a shoot over on bars, a switch leap to split leap and a split ¾ twist on the beam as well as a front layout 1&1/2 twist on the floor.

Tyza Skuse added a kip cast to handstand pirouette in her bar routine, and a switch leap to split leap on beam with a gainer back tuck dismount off the end.  Tyza also added a front pike to front layout on the floor with a double twist finish.

Ksenia Stansell added a back layout one and a half twist to punch front pike for the first time in her floor routine.

Hannah Herschler competed a cast to handstand, shoot up and giant all for the first time on bars.

Congratulations to Janika Scriba and Brooklyn Batch for coming home with a medal in the first meet of the year in JO level 10.

Janika received a Bronze on the bars while Brooklyn came home with a bronze medal on the floor.

Ava Herschler won the 6th place ribbon on bars, took 8th place on floor, finished 10th on vault and 13th on beam to finish in 9th place in the All Around.

Campbell River Gymnastics represent at the BC Winter Games Trials

The Campbell River Gymnastics Association (CRGA) sent three athletes to the BC Winter Games Trials held in Nanaimo on January 5th.  Each athlete had new skills to demonstrate and had moved up into a new level.

Hannah Herschler was set to move up 2 levels and compete in the JO (Junior Olympic) Level 8 division for the first time before hurting her foot in warm up on vault warming up a new tsukahara vault.

Ava Lee competed in the JO 7 showing her giants on bars for the first time in competition.

Rayne Loock also competed in the JO 7 category showing a yurochenko vault, a clear hip to handstand and a giant on bars as well as a walkover back handspring series and roundoff back tuck dismount on the beam.

Ava Lee took 5th place on the beam, placed 9th on both vault and bars and finished 10th on floor to come home in 12th place in the All Around.

Rayne Loock took 7th place on beam, and finished 11th on vault, bars and floor to come home in 13th place in the All Around.

 

The next competition for the athletes will be in Coquitlam at the Winterfest competition in Club Aviva.

Brooklyn Batch and Carson Ogg compete in Delta

The Campbell River Gymnastics Association sent two gymnasts to Delta to compete in the Cash and Carry Invitational.  This is an opportunity for the athletes to compete against some of the top gymnasts in the Province.  The rules are modified but they were still up against some National Team members which makes for a cool experience.

Brooklyn Batch had a great competition winning a total of $450 dollars bringing in a Silver medal on the bars, taking 4th place on the vault, finishing 9th on floor and 17th on beam to come home in 4 place in the All Around.

Carson also did well placing 11th on the high bar, took 14th position on the parallel bars, placed 15th on rings, took 20th on vault, finished 26th on pommel and 33rd on floor to come home in 25th place (out of 43) in the All Around.

Congrats to our athletes.  Brooklyn and Carson are now training for next year getting ready to go National stream.

CR gymnasts perform well in Victoria

The Campbell River Gymnastics Association sent 22 athletes to the annual Garden City competition held in Victoria.  The girls performed well coming home with 17 medals and multiple ribbons.  Top All Around results include Shea Bridgen finishing with a Bronze All Around in the JO 7 group A division, Hannah Herschler bringing home the Bronze All Around in the JO 6 group A division and Shyanne Johnson captured the Silver medal on the JO 5 group A division.  Congrats to all the girls and below are the full results.

CR gymnasts come home as Western Canadian champions!!

The Campbell River Gymnastics Association tied a record from last year qualifying 5 athletes to represent Team BC at the Western Canadian Championships.  This years competition was held April 25-28 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Carson Ogg had an outstanding performance helping Team BC bring home the team Gold in the Provincial Level 5 division.  After starting the competition in 4th All Around, Carson added to his medal count in Finals becoming the Western Canadian Champion on High Bar, winning the Silver medal on Floor and rounding out the medals with a Bronze medal performance on the rings.

Jack Martin came home with a team Bronze medal, than went to finals to become the Western Canadian Champion on the Pommel Horse.

Brooklyn Batch had a strong competition in the JO 9 over 13 division helping her team win the Silver medal and winning the Bronze medal on the uneven bars in the finals.

Nathan Kerluck helped his team win the Silver medal as Nathan had a solid All Around performance finishing in 8th All Around and taking the 6th place ribbon on Rings in the finals.

Jordan Loock showed amazing heart after breaking a toe and rolling her ankle in training, Jordan was able to tough it out and help her team come home with the Silver medal.

An excellent Westerns for our athletes, club and Province!  Now the athletes will be working hard on new skills for next year!

Jack Martin became the Western Canadian Champion on the pommel horse, won the 4th place ribbon on floor and vault, took 19th spot on the rings, finished 20th on both parallel bars and high bar to come home in 15th place in the All Around.

CR Gymnasts come home with 4 Provincial Champions!!

The Provincial Championships for artistic gymnastics were held in Coquitlam April 12-14th 2019. Campbell River athletes did extremely well coming home with over 20 medals from 10 different athletes.

Shea Bridgen won the Provincial title with a beautiful floor routine in the JO 7 division.

For the boys, Owen Harbo became the All Around Provincial Champion in the Provincial Level 3 Under 13 division with a great performance on all apparatus.

Nathan Kerluck became Provincial Champ on the parallel bars while  Carson Ogg won the High bar title in the Provincial 5 division.

Brooklyn Batch, Tyza Skuse, Ava Lee, Ayla Wheatley, Shyanne Johnson and Ava Levins also came home with medals!!  Congrats to all the athletes on a solid performance at the Provincials!!

Paityn Giesbrecht captured the 10th place on vault, placed 15th on bars, finished 16th on floor and 20th on beam to come home in 19th place in the All Around.

JO 3 (2010-11)

Scarlett Walker won the 6th place ribbon on vault, placed 12th on both bars and floor, finished 15th on beam to come home in 13th place in the All Around.

Haylee Toohey placed 16th on vault, took 17th on the floor, finished 19th on both bars and beam to come home in 18th place in the All Around.

JO 3 (2009-2010)

Sophie Pallan won the 7th place ribbon on bars, took 9th place on floor, finished 11th on both vault and beam to come home in 10th place in the All Around.

Ariana Mullett won the 8th place ribbon on vault, placed 15th on both bars and beam, finished 18th on floor to come home in 18th place in the All Around.

JO 3 (2009)

Anna Harris won the 5th place ribbon on vault, captured the 8th place ribbon on bars, finished 12th on beam and 17th on floor to come home in 9th place in the All Around.

Provincial 5 men

Carson Ogg became the Provincial Champion on High bar, won the Bronze medal on pommel horse, took the 5th place ribbon on floor, received 6th place on vault, finished 7th on parallel bars and 8th on the rings to come home in 4th place in the All Around.

Provincial 4 (13 and older)

Nathan Kerluck became the Provincial Champion on parallel bars, captured the Silver medals on pommel horse and high bar, won the Bronze medals on floor and rings, took the 4th place ribbon on vault to come home with the Silver medal in the All Around.

Provincial Level 3 (under 13)

Owen Harbo won the Silver medals on pommel horse, rings and vault, brought home the 5th place ribbon on parallel bars, took home the 6th place ribbons on floor and high bar to come home as the All Around Provincial Champion!!

Liam Barber took home the 7th place ribbon on pommel horse, took the 8th place ribbon on rings, brought home 10th place on vault, finished 12th on both floor and high bar, placed 18th on parallel bars to come home in 12th All Around.

River Wangler placed 21st on floor, rings and vault, brought home 23rd on parallel bars, finished 26th on pommel horse and 28th on high bar to come home in 28th place in the All Around.

Level 1 boys (Level 1 boys compete for a Gold, Silver or Bronze status, rather than placement.)

Benjamin Pechter received a Silver status on floor, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars and high bar receiving a Silver status in the All Around.

Callaghan Konyha received a Silver status on the floor, rings, vault, parallel bars and high bar, took a Bronze status on the pommel horse to come home with a Silver status in the All Around.

Noah Kerluck received a Silver status on the floor, rings and vault, received a Bronze status on pommel horse parallel bars and high bar to come home with a Silver status in the All Around.

4 CR gymnasts qualify for Western Canadian Championships!

The Twisters competition held in Abbotsford, March 22-24th was host to trials to the Western Canadian Championships for both Men and Women.  Campbell River gymnasts did exceptionally well qualifying 4 athletes on Team BC and one possible alternate or wildcard to this years Western Canadian Championships held in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan at the end of April.

Brooklyn Batch qualified on the JO 9 team with a solid competition, competing for her first time this year due to an injury. She took the Silver medal on bars and the Bronze medal in the All Around.

Jordan Loock won a Bronze medal on vault and locked up a possible alternate or wildcard spot on the JO Level 9 under 13 team.

For the boys Carson Ogg secured his spot to Westerns with a solid performance in the Men’s Provincial 5 category winning Gold on the floor exercise and taking the Silver medal in the All Around.

Nathan Kerluck won his spot in the Men’s Provincial Level 4 division taking home the Gold medals on floor, high bar and the All Around.

Jackson Martin won the final birth to Westerns with a solid performance capturing the Silver medal on pommel horse and coming home in 5th All Around.

“Five athletes representing team BC is a huge achievement for our club”, head coach Todd Sader said.  “Now we head back to work to prepare for the Provincial Championships and of course Westerns!”

JO Level 10 2000-2003

Janika Scriba won the 7th place ribbons on vault and bars, placed 9th on the beam, finished 13th on floor to come home in 11th place in the All Around.

JO Level 9 2001-2004

Brooklyn Batch captured the Silver medal on bars, took the 5th place ribbon on vault, finished 6th on both beam and floor to  come home with Bronze in the All Around, qualifying for the Western Canadian Championships.

Ksenia Stansell won the 4th place ribbon on vault, placed 5th on the floor, finished 8th on bars and 9th on beam to come home in 8th place in the All Around.

JO Level 9 July 2006-December 31st 2008

Jordan Loock captured the Bronze medal on vault, won the 4th place ribbon on bars, placed 6th on floor and 7th on the beam to come home in 5th place in the All Around.  Jordan may have a chance at being an alternate or a wildcard for the Western Canadian Championships.

JO Level 8

Tyza Skuse captured the Silver medal on vault, won the Bronze medal on the beam, took the 4th place ribbon on bars, placed 9th on floor to come home in 4th place in the All Around.

JO level 7 July 1st 2005-July 31st 2006

Shae Bridgen captured the Silver medal on the floor, won the Bronze medals on vault, bars and beam to come home in with the Silver medal in the All Around.

JO Level 6 June 1st 2008-December 31st 2008

Rayne Loock won the Bronze medal on the beam, captured the 4th place ribbon on bars, finished 6th on floor and 10th on the vault to come home in 6th place in the All Around.

JO Level 5

Shyanne Johnson won the Bronze medal on the bars, took the 7th place ribbon on floor, finished 8th on vault and 12th on beam to come home in 9th place in the All Around.

Boys Provincial 5

Carson Ogg captured the Gold medal on floor, won the Silver medal on vault, brought home the Bronze on high bar, took the 4th place ribbon on pommel horse, finished 6th on both rings and parallel bars to come home with the Silver medal in the All Around qualifying Carson for the Western Canadian Championships!

Boys Provincial 4  13yrs and older

Nathan Kerluck won the Gold medals on both floor and high bar, captured the Silver medals on both pommel horse and vault, finished 4th on both rings and parallel bars to come home as the All Around Champion and won a spot on the Provincial level 4 boys team to Western Canadian Championships!

Jack Martin won the Silver medal on pommel horse, placed 4th on the high bar, took the 5th place ribbon on rings, finished 7th on both vault and parallel bars and 9th on the floor to come home in 5th place in the All Around and qualifying him for the Western Canadian Championship!

Boys Provincial 3 under 12

Owen Harbo won the Gold medal on the rings, won the Bronze medal on the high bar, captured the 6th place ribbon on pommel horse, finished 10th on the floor and 15th on both vault and parallel bars to come home in 11th place in the All Around.

River Wangler brought home 11th place on floor, took 16th spot on vault, finished 18th on both pommel horse and parallel bars, received 19th on rings, finished 22nd on the high bar to come home in 22nd spot in the All Around.

David Price captured 9th on vault, brought home 16th on the floor, took 17th on the rings, finished 19th on the pommel horse, placed 22nd on parallel bars and 24th on high bar to come home in 23rd spot in the All Around.

Gymnasts medal in Surrey

The Campbell River Springs competitive gymnastics team, sent athletes to the Carol Lenz Memorial competition held in Surrey March 2nd and 3rd .  Five athletes combined to bring home 18 medals including Ksenia Stansell bringing home the Gold medal on the floor with  solid landings and a great performance.

Carson Ogg won the Gold medal on the floor with some dynamic tumbling as well as capturing the Gold on the pommel horse with a well done routine.

Jack Martin swung well on the pommel horse to capture Gold and Owen Harbo brought home the Gold medals on rings and high bar showing good form and landings.

Nathan Kerluck brought home Silvers on vault and high bar to round out the athletes achievements.  All 5 athletes finished in the top 6 in their division with Carson and Nathan hitting the podium in finishing in 3rd All Around in their respective divisions.  Congrats to all the athletes!!  Below are the full results.
