CR Gymnast qualifies for Western Canadian Championships

15 athletes from the Campbell River Gymnastics Association went to the Carol Lenz Memorial competition held in Surrey.
This competition was the trials to the Western Canadian Championships that will be held later this year in Richmond.
Liam Deagle qualified for the team in first place in the National Open division, a great feat for his first year in the division.
Brooklyn Batch also became the All Around champion in the Level 8 division.
Janika Scriba competed a back handspring back tuck series on the beam for the first time in competition and Riley Michael added an endo, pirouette and front and back giants to his high bar routine.
Quinn Kuschel-Ross competed an Alder on the high bar followed by and invert giant as well as adding a hecht full twist dismount on the high bar, and a Czech kehr on the pommel horse with a handstand dismount.
On parallel bars Quinn also added a back uprise straddle cut and a back tuck half dismount.
The following are all the CR results from the competition.

Men’s National Open
Liam Deagle captured the Gold on pommel horse, won the Silver medals on rings, p-bars and high bar, took 4th place on floor and 6th on the vault to come home as the All Around Champion!!
Quinn Kuschel-Ross captured the Silver medal on pommel horse, placed 4th on the high bar and 6th on p-bars. Quinn placed 8th in the all-around.

Provincial 4 (13 and older)
Riley Michael took the 5th place ribbons on rings and p-bars, placed 6th on both pommel horse and high bar, finished 7th on floor and 10th on vault to come home in 6th place in the all-around.

Provincial 4 (under 13)
Carson Ogg captured the Gold medal on the rings, earned the Bronze medal on floor, placed 4th on high bar, and took 5th place on pommel horse, finished 6th on vault and 7th on p-bars to come home in 6th place in the all-around.

Provincial 3 (under 13)
Nathan Kerluck earned the Bronze medal on the floor, won the 5th place ribbon on pommel horse, took 8th on p-bars, finished 9th on both rings and high bars, placed 10th on vault to come home in 7th place in the all-around.
Jackson Martin brought home the 4th place ribbon on vault, placed 11th on floor and 13th on the p-bars, finished 14th on pommel horse, 16th on the rings and 17th on the high bar to come home in 17th place in the all-around.

Provincial Level 1 * (judged on a score standard of Gold, Silver or Bronze)
Khayam Siah captured a Gold status on the vault, earned a Silver status on floor, pommel horse, and high bar, and took the Bronze status on rings and p-bars to come home with a Silver status in the All Around.

JO 9
Janika Scriba captured the Gold medal on vault, won the Silver medal with her floor routine, and took 4th place on both bars and beam to come home in 4th place in the all-around.

Brooklyn Batch won the Gold medals on vault, bars and floor, captured the Silver medal on the beam to come home as the All Around Champion!!

JO7 2003-2007
Nya Chailler captured Bronze with her beam routine, took 4th on bars, placed 6th on both vault and floor to come home with the Bronze medal in the all-around.
Ksenia Stansell won the 5th place ribbon on beam, took 7th place on vault, finished 10th on floor and 13th on bars to come home in 7th place in the All Around.

JO 7 2002 and older
Brianna Pollock brought home the 6th place ribbon on beam, placed 12th on both vault and floor, finished 17th on the bars to come home in 13th place in the All Around.

JO6 2004
Isabella Michael won the 10th place ribbon on bars, placed 11th on beam, finished 12 on the vault and 16th on the floor to come home in 13th place in the All Around.
Claire Pollock captured 13th place on vault and beam, finished in 17th place on both bars and floor to come home in 17th place in the All Around.

CR Gymnasts show strong performances at the Provincial Championships

The Campbell River Gymnastics Association (CRGA) sent a group of athletes to the Provincial Championships.
The field was highly competitive, more so than most years. Every tenth of a point mattered in this competition with only a few tenths of a point separating the top 10 in most levels.
The highlights of the competition include Olivia Miles becoming an all around Provincial Champion in the JO (Junior Olympic) 7 division, as well as performing a free hip to handstand for the first time in competition and capturing the Provincial title on the bars.
Brooklyn Batch became the Provincial Champion on bars in the JO 8 division, becoming the alternate for the JO 8 team to the Western Canadian Championships missing the team by less then 0.05 of a mark.
Shea Bridgen became the Provincial Champion on the floor in the JO level 5 division finishing 4th in the All Around.
Hannah Sommer became a two time medalist, the Provincial Champion on the bars and won the Bronze medal on the vault in JO 6.
Liam Deagle captured the Bronze medal on parallel bars in the National Open category and qualified for the Canadian Championships!
Riley Michael captured a Silver medal on his floor routine and a Bronze medal on pommel in Men’s level 4.
Janika Scriba competed an amazing yurochenko pike with a stuck landing to get 4th place just edged out of a medal.

The JO 6 zone 6 team captured the Bronze medal as a team. Congrats to all the JO 6 team!
Mackenzie Henderson performed a tsuk tuck for the first time in competition.
We had many top 10 finishes in the all around and on events. Fantastic work and a job well done. Below are all the results.

Jadea Wilson received an 8th place ribbon on beam, finished 12 on both bars and vault, placed 25th on floor to come home in 15th place in the All Around.
Ava Lee placed 26th on vault and beam, took 27th on floor, finished 30th on bars to come home in 30th place in the All Around.

JO 5 2000-2005
Shea Bridgen became Provincial Champion on the floor, took home 9th place ribbons on bars and beam, placed 10th on vault to come home in 4th place in the All Around.

JO 6 2006-2007
Hannah Sommer became Provincial Champion on bars, captured the Bronze medal on vault, placed 8th on floor and 17th on beam to come home in 7th place in the All Around.
Jordan Loock took home an 8th place ribbon on bars, a 10th place ribbon on vault, finished 12th on beam and 13th on floor to come home in 11th place in the All Around.

Ellie Anderson finished 15th on vault, placed 17th on the bars, finished 21st on floor and 24th on beam to come home in 23rd place in the All Around.

Nathan Kerluck won a 7th place ribbon on rings, took 9th on both pommel horse and parallel bars, placed 13th on high bar, finished 15th on vault and 18th on floor to come home in 10th place in the All Around.
Jackson Martin took 10th place on the floor, placed 15th on pommel horse, was 22nd on both parallel bars and high bar, finished 25th on rings and 27th on vault to come home in 21st in the All Around.
Liam Barber placed 19th on rings, took 20th on parallel bars, was 23rd on vault finished 24th on both floor and high bar, took 27th on pommel horse to come home in 24th in the All Around.

Level 4 under 13
Carson Ogg won the 5th place ribbon on floor, placed 6th on the vault, took the 7th place ribbon on parallel bars, took 8th on pommel horse and finished 9th on both rings and high bar to come home in 9th place in the All Around.

Level 4 over 13

National Open
Liam Deagle won the Bronze medal on parallel bars, took the 4th place ribbons on rings and high bar, placed 5th on floor, finished 6th on vault and 8th on pommel horse to come home in 5th place in the All Around, landing him a spot in the Canadian Championships. Congratulations.

Cr Gymnast qualify for the Provincial Championships

The Campbell River Gymnastics Association (CRGA) sent a large team of girls to the Mount Aerosmith competition held in Port Alberni.
For the Junior Olympic (JO) Levels 5 and 6, this competition was for a birth to the Provincials Championships. 7 athletes earned spots including 4 more wild card spot for a total of 11 athletes qualifying for Provincials.
Highlights include Jordan Loock, Hannah Sommer and Shea Bridgen competing a back handspring for the first time. The athletes combined for 25 medals, 5 athletes in the top 3 all around and one All Around Champion.

JO Level 7 (all ages)

Sierra Goddyn captured 4th place on the vault, won the 9th place ribbon on floor, finished 10th on bars and 13th on the beam to come home in 11th place in the All Around.
Ava Levins won the 7th place ribbon on the vault, placed 11th on floor and beam, finished 13th on the bars to come home in 12th place in the All Around.
Brieanna Collie took 12th place on bars, beam and floor, finished in 13th place on the vault to come home in 13th place in the All Around.

Anyah Matheson captured the 4th place ribbon on vault, placed 10th on floor, finished 11th on bars and beam to come home in 11th place in the All Around.

CR gymnasts have strong performance in Langley

The Campbell River Gymnastics Association (CRGA) sent 13 athletes to the Christy Fraser Memorial competition held at the Langley Events Centre where our athletes combined for 15 medals.
This competition was the first National trials for the men and the first chance for Liam Deagle to qualify for the Canadian Championships held later this year in Edmonton.
Liam added a front layout full twist and a back layout double twist in his floor routine, a czechkehre on the pommel horse with a travel down, a kip to Iron Cross on the rings, a pirouette and a back layout half turn on parallel bars, and a healy twirl and a double back off the high bar.
Brooklyn Batch added a tsukahara tuck on the vault, and Janika Scriba added a split full on the floor.
Carson Ogg added a free hip and giants to his high bar routine and put a half spindle and stocklie on the pommel horse. The following are the results from the competition.

Men’s Level 3 under 13
Nathan Kerluck captured the 6th place ribbon on rings, placed 11th on both pommel horse and parallel bars, took 16th on floor, 21st on the high bar and 22nd on vault to come home in 17th place in the all around.
Liam Barber took 15th place on pommel, placed 16th on rings and vault, finished 20th on parallel bars and 23rd on the floor to come home in 23rd in the all around.
Jack Martin placed 22nd on both pommel horse and rings, finished in 23rd on the floor and took 24th on the parallel bars to come home in 25th place in the all around.

Men’s Level 4 under 12
Carson Ogg won the silver medal on vault, placed 4th on floor, pommel, rings and high bar and finished 5th on parallel bars to come home in 5th place in the all around.

Men’s Level 4 13 and older

High School Trials to Provincials

HS Provincial Trials-72

The Campbell River Gymnastics Association had 5 girls go to the trials for the High School Provincial Championships held in Port Alberni.
The girls were representing their high schools. 4 athletes from Carihi and one from Timberline.
The girls did an excellent job qualifying four of the girls for the High school Provincials that will be later this month in Burnaby.
Highlights included Jasmine Duguay from Carihi capturing the Silver medal on bars, winning the Bronze on the vault and coming home with the Silver medal in the All Around competition in the level 3 division.
Leah Anderson from Timberline won the Silver medals on both vault and the floor to finish up in 4th place in the All Around.
Jillian Frank from Carihi captured the Bronze medals on both bars and beam finishing up in 6th place in the All Around and Ruby Nickoloff took two 4th place ribbons, one on bars and one on the floor to come home in 7th place in the All Around.
In the level 2 division Jade Mackenzie representing Carihi captured a 7th place finish on the vault and an 8th place finish on the beam finishing in 12th place in the All Around.

CR Gymnastics thrive in Comox

30 Athletes from the CR Gymnastics Association represented out club at the annual Pajama Meet held in Comox. Our athletes had a very strong performance coming home with 4 all around champions, 8 more on the podium for top 3 all around finishes, over 60 combined medals and numerous ribbons.“The athletes are stepping up when they get chances and it is fun to watch them perform!”, Coach Sader proclaimed.
New skills for the athletes include Brooklyn Batch performing her roundoff back layout off beam for the first time. Riley Michael added a back tuck flyaway off the p-bars along with a Sivado on the pommel horse, a back layout half turn off the rings and a back full on the floor.
Nathan Kerluck added a free hip to handstand and a giant to his high bar routine. Here is the full results for our club.

Level 1 boys
In Level 1 boys usually compete against a standard (everyone getting Gold, Silver or Bronze) however at this meet the Level 1’s competed for placements.
Lucas Pesicka won a silver medal on vault, placed 4th on floor, finished in 5th spot on pommel, rings, p-bars and high bar to come home in 5th place in the all around.

Level 3 boys
Nathan Kerluck captured the Gold medals on all six apparatus including coming home as the All Around Champion!! Congrats!
Jack Martin won the silver medals on floor, rings and vault and came home with the Silver medal in the all around!

Ayla Wheatley captured the bronze medal on the vault, placed 8th on the bars and floor, and finished in 9th on beam to come home in 9th place in the all around.

JO level 4 born in 2003-2004

Campbell River Gymnasts medal at BC Games

Three girls from the Campbell River Gymnastics Association represented Zone 6 at the BC Winter Games held in Penticton February 24th to the 28th.
The girls had an outstanding competition capturing the Silver medal as a team (six athletes per team) going up against the powerhouse mainland teams. The girls, accompanied by two Nanaimo athletes and a girl from Duncan, were only .175 away from the gold medal.
The team had an excellent competition and matched up well with other teams. CRGA individual highlights included Reese Wheeldon capturing the Bronze medal in the All Around competition and adding a 4th place finish on beam in the Finals as well as posting the top score on vault in the prelims before finishing in 7th place during the Finals. Brooklyn Batch scored a monster 9.65 to head into finals on bars in first place having a great bar routine to capture the bronze medal in the finals.
Nya Chailler also finished in 6th place in the All Around competition and took the 6th place ribbon on the vault in finals. Nya also qualified for finals on the floor and the beam. A job well done!!
