CR Gymnasts have strong showing in Langley

The Campbell River Gymnastics Association sent a small group of gymnasts to Langley for the Christy Fraser competition held in the Langley Events centre February 14th-16th 2020.

The athletes had a strong competition coming home with multiple medals including two All Around Champions.  This was the first trials for the Canadian Championships for the boys National Open category.

Carson Ogg stepped up to the challenge winning the National Open division that has now set himself up for his first possible birth to the Canadian Championships later this year in Gatineau Quebec.

Jack Martin also had a strong competition winning the All Around competition in the Provincial 5 division.

Congrats to Miley Konrad who won the Gold medal on floor in JO 6, Shea Bridgen for her Silver medals on bars and beam in JO 7, and Brooklyn Batch and Janika Scriba for finishing 4th and 5th on vault in the JO 10 division.

JO Level 10 Senior

Brooklyn Batch captured the 4th place ribbon on vault, took 5th place on floor, finished 6th on beam and 8th on bars to come home in 6th place in the All Around.

Janika Scriba won the 5th place ribbon on vault, took 6th place on bars, finished 7th on beam to come home in 7th place in the All Around.

JO Level 7 Senior

Shea Bridgen won the Silver medals on bars and floor, captured the 4th place ribbon on vault, finished 12th on beam to come in 4th place in the All Around.

JO Level 6 Youth

Miley Konrad won the Gold on floor, placed 12th on both vault and beam, finished 13th on bars to come home in 11th place in the All Around.

National Open

Carson Ogg won the Silver medals on pommel horse, vault and high bars, won the Bronze medals on rings and parallel bars, placed 4th on floor to come home as the National Open All Around Champion.

Provincial Level 5

Jack Martin won the Gold medals on pommel horse and vault, won the Silver medals on rings and high bar, took the Bronze medal on parallel bars, finished 4th on floor to come home as the Provincial 5 Champion.

Provincial Level 4

Nathan Kerluck captured the Silver medal on high bar, won the 5th place ribbon on floor, rings and vault, placed 8th on parallel bars, finished 13th on pommel horse to come home in 7th place in the All Around.

Campbell River girls qualify for High School Provincials

Janika Scriba and Tyza Skuse from Carihi and Ksenia Stansell from Timberline all competed to qualify for the High School Provincial Championships in Victoria in early March.

The competition was held at the Chimo in Comox February 9th.  There were 3 spots up for grabs and all three girls qualified taking 1st, 2nd  and 3rd spots respectively.  Congratulations to all three girls representing their school and club (CRGA).  Good luck at the High School Provincials!

Janika Scriba had a great competition winning each event and the All Around.

Tyza showed great routines on vault and floor to capture the Silver medals on both vault and floor while Ksenia showed strong routines on bars and beam to capture the Silver medals on those events.

CR Gymnasts win more than 25 medals at the Chimo Invitational

The Campbell River Gymnastics Association (CRGA) sent a big group of boys and to the Chimo competition held in Comox February 7th-9th, 2020.  This was the first competition for most of the athletes and they performed very well.

The total medal count included more than 25 medals including highlights of River Wangler, Sophie Pallan, Miley Konrad, and Haylee Toohey all coming home with the Silver medals in the All Around competitions in their respected divisions.

Madison Cook also capped things off coming home with the Bronze medal All Around in her division.  Congrats to all the athletes and looking forwards to a strong competitive season!  Below are all the results.

 

JO Level 7

Jadea Wilson won the 5th place ribbon on floor, took the 6th place ribbon on beam, finished 7th on bars and 8th on vault to come home in 7th place in the All Around.

Ava Lee won the 4th place ribbon on beam, took the 7th place ribbon on floor, finished 9th on bars and 10th on vault to come home in 9th place in the All Around.

JO Level 6 group A

Kalie Lofstrom won the Bronze medal on beam, took the 5th place ribbon on vault, finished 6th on bars and 10th on floor to come home in 5th place in the All Around.

Rihanna Dill won the 4th place ribbons on both bars and floor, took 6th place on beam, finished 11th on vault to come home in 6th place in the All Around.

Isabelle Alsager captured 5th place on bars, took the 7th place ribbon on beam, finished 10th on vault and 12th on floor to come home in 9th place in the All Around.

Anna Wheatley won the 8th place ribbon on vault, took the 9th place ribbon on floor, finished 10th on both bars and beam to come home in 12th place in the All Around.

Myah Ward captured the 8th place ribbon on bars, took the 9th place ribbon on vault, finished 11th on floor and 12th on beam to come home in 13th place in the All Around.

JO Level 6 group B

Miley Konrad captured the Silver medals on bars and beam, took the 5th place ribbon on vault, finished 6th on floor to come home with the Silver medal in the All Around.

Alyssa Wood won the 6th place ribbon on beam, took 7th place on vault, finished 9th on bars and 11th on floor to come home in 11th place in the All Around.

Ava Levins captured the 4th place ribbon on vault, took the 9th place ribbon on floor, finished 12th on both bars and beam to come home in 12th place in the All Around.

Shyanne Johnson won the Gold medal on bars, took the 10th place ribbon on beam, finished 11th on vault and 12th on floor to come home in 13th place in the All Around.

Persia Tabarsi took 9th place on vault, placed 10th on floor, finished 11th on both bars and beam to come home in 11th place in the All Around.

Lacey Palmer won the 7th place ribbons on vault and floor, placed 8th on bars, finished 9th on beam to come home in 9th place in the All Around.

Ru-Chan Mcguffie-Ogasawara won the 6th place ribbon on vault, captured the 7th place ribbon on beam, finished 9th on floor and 12th on bars to come home in 10th place in the All Around.

Khloe Chapman won the 9th place ribbon on vault, took the 10th place ribbons on both beam and floor, finished 11th on bars to come home in 11th place in the All Around.

Ali Maga won the 8th place ribbons on both vault and beam, placed 10th on bars, finished 11th on floor to come home in 12th place in the All Around.

Paityn Giesbrecht won the 4th place ribbon on bars, took the 5th place ribbon on vault, finished 8th on beam and 10th on floor to come home with 6th place in the All Around.

Jaycee Lafrance captured the Bronze medal on bars, took the 5th place ribbon on vault, finished 10th on beam and 11th on floor to come home in 8th place in the All Around.

Olivia Fawbert won the 7th place ribbon on vault, took the 9th place ribbon on floor, finished 10th on beam and 11th on bars to come home in 11th place in the All Around.

River Wangler captured the Gold medal on high bar, took the Silver medals on rings , vault and parallel bars, won the Bronze medals on floor and pommel horse to come home with the Silver medal in the All Around.

Leonardo Bellosta won the 5th place ribbon on rings, took 6th place on floor, pommel horse and high bar and finished 7th on vault and parallel bars to come home in 7th place in the All Around.

Boys Provincial 1 (Level 1 Boys compete for a Gold, Silver or Bronze status rather than placement.)

Kody Lye received a Silver Status on floor, pommel horse, rings, vault, and high bar and received a Bronze status on the parallel bars to come home with a Silver status in the All Around.

Noah Kerluck received a Silver status on floor, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars and high bar to come home with a Silver Status in the All Around.

Louis Debruin received a Silver Status on floor, rings, vault, parallel bars and high bar and got a Bronze status on the pommel horse to come home with a Silver Status in the All Around.

Everest Johnson received a Silver status on rings and vault, took a Bronze status on floor, pommel horse, parallel bars and high bar to come home with a Bronze status in the All Around.

New skills unleashed in Coquitlam

The Campbell River Gymnastics Association sent athletes to the Winterfest competition held in Coquitlam on January 25th and 26th for their warm up competition of the year.  This is a great competition to try new skills and see where we are at.

Brooklyn Batch in the JO 10 division added a shoot over on bars for the first time, a back layout one and a half twist on off the beam as well as a split ¾ twist leap, and added a front layout 1&1/2 twist on the floor as well as a switch half to split full for her leap line.

Jordan Loock in JO 9 added a shoot over on bars, a switch leap to split leap and a split ¾ twist on the beam as well as a front layout 1&1/2 twist on the floor.

Tyza Skuse added a kip cast to handstand pirouette in her bar routine, and a switch leap to split leap on beam with a gainer back tuck dismount off the end.  Tyza also added a front pike to front layout on the floor with a double twist finish.

Ksenia Stansell added a back layout one and a half twist to punch front pike for the first time in her floor routine.

Hannah Herschler competed a cast to handstand, shoot up and giant all for the first time on bars.

Congratulations to Janika Scriba and Brooklyn Batch for coming home with a medal in the first meet of the year in JO level 10.

Janika received a Bronze on the bars while Brooklyn came home with a bronze medal on the floor.
